Product description

The Viking cup from Lejre was discovered in the 19th century during excavation work near the Danish town of Lejre, which was once the royal seat of the Danish rulers in the Iron Age and Viking Age. The original cup is now displayed at the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen.

The Lejre Viking cup was made of solid silver with niello inlays. Our replica is crafted from genuine silver-plated brass. The cup measures 7 x 5.5 cm and has a capacity of about 120 ml, making it a stylish option for drinks like port, cherry, or fine whisky. You can use it for reenactment or for a pagan home altar.

The Viking cup from Lejre is a historical replica, produced in small quantities, and is not certified for food use. The original treasure, found in 1850 by a Danish farmer near Lejre, consisted of several valuable objects, including a large Anglo-Saxon silver bowl and two smaller vessels. The smallest cup features four winged female figures, which are believed to represent the Viking goddess Freya, who, according to the Edda, could transform into a falcon using her cloak of feathers.
