Some historical bokkens were even inlaid with gemstones or painted with gold leaf. The bokken is the ideal weapon to practice samurai sword fighting techniques. Today, the bokken is mainly used for practicing martial arts such as aikido, kendo, iaido, kenjutsu, jodo, and nanbudo. It is a cheaper and safer substitute than the katana.

The iaitō is the battle-ready variant of the katana. These katanas have a blunt edge allowing them to be used for practicing martial arts such as aikido, kendo, iaido, kenjutsu, jodo, and nanbudo. These katanas have a tempered blade making them fully functional. The tang construction and grip are made in the same way as other katanas. The first iaitō were made after the Second World War to provide people the opportunity to own a sword to practice budo. We offer different types of iaito that vary in weight, length, and balance.
