Product description
This medieval headscarf pin features a polyhedron-shaped head and is faithfully crafted based on an Anglo-Saxon find from the 8th to 10th century AD. The pin is decorated with a "circle eye" motif, a common design element of the period.
Polyhedron-headed headscarf pins are characteristic of early Anglo-Saxon women's attire and are frequently found in archaeological discoveries from this time. These pins were primarily used to secure headscarves or veils to the hair, serving both a functional and decorative role.
The historical inspiration for this headscarf pin comes from a find in Staffordshire, which is now part of the Birmingham Museums Trust collection. The pin is made of brass, with a length of 6 cm, a width of 0.5 cm, and a pin diameter of 1 mm, reflecting the dimensions of the original piece.
