Product description

This wood carving depicts the Viking goddess Freya, the goddess of love. Snorri describes the great love goddess as follows (Gylf 23):

"FREYJA is the most famous of the goddesses; she resides in the heavens at a place called Folkvangr. When she goes into battle, she receives half of the fallen warriors, Odin the other half." (as also cited in Grm 14, which Snorri quotes here):

Her hall is called Sessrúmnir, she is strong and beautiful. When FREYJA travels, she sits in her chariot drawn by cats... She loves love songs, and it is useful to call upon her in matters of love." In addition to her chariot drawn by cats, her attributes include a falcon cloak and possibly the boar Hildisvini, as well as the necklace Brísingamen. Thus, FREYJA should not be missing from any altar or bedroom.

The goddess of love will inspire and elevate you. Bring her into your home and let her dazzling beauty and strength convince you. Freyja, explanation partly from the book "Lexikon der germanischen Mythologie" by Rudolf Simek, p. 112.
