Product description

This torque is based on an original that was worn by the Vikings around the 8th and 9th century. The original was excavated in Gotland. Originally the torque was a Celtic / Gaulish neck jewel that served as a symbol of status for the wearer. It is unknown how and when the Vikings adopted this tradition, a possibility is that it was transferred from the ancient Germanic tribes. In many cases, there were no large difference between Germanic and Gaulish culture.
