Product description
This Viking pendant is based on a 10th century original found in Staraja Ladoga in Russia. In Viking art we find images of graceful horses on rune stones, utensils and decorations of ships. These images served not only as artistic expression, but also as symbols of status and power. The use of horses in warfare was essential to the mobility of Viking armies, and these scenes of battle on horseback appear frequently in both artistic and literary lore of the Vikings.
