Product description
This replica of a Viking Age belt fitting is based on a discovery made near the church of Grötlingbo on the Swedish island of Gotland. The bronze fitting features a stylized depiction of a bearded Viking face, offering a glimpse into the artistry of the time.
Bronze belt fittings were common during the Viking Age and are frequently found in archaeological finds from this period. In particular, among the eastern Vikings in Sweden, Gotland, and Russia, richly adorned belt sets are often unearthed as grave goods, showcasing the wealth and status of the individuals buried with them.
The dimensions of the Viking belt fitting are 2.2 x 1.6 cm. It is available in high-quality bronze. For fastening, the fitting has four pins on the back. To attach, pass the pins through corresponding holes in the leather, bend the tips slightly with pliers, and tap them flat with a hammer. This will secure the fitting firmly and evenly onto the belt.
