This bag fitting is a replica of a 9th-10th century original excavated in the Viking town of Birka. This type of bag fitting was used mainly by the Vikings from the Baltic regions and are excavated in a.o. Gotland, Birka and Russia. Bags were often decorated with a number of similar fittings, turning the bag into a piece of art.
