Description
This replica sword is a beautiful piece for your sword collection. It was made after a sword excavated from a ship burial near Uppsala, Sweden. Because of the wealth and the craftsmanship the sword symbolizes, it almost certainly belonged to a chief, noble or elite warrior. The Vendel period took place between the Great Migrations and the Viking era. More of these richly decorated swords were found in the Vendel period. This replica is made of EN45 spring steel and has a wide fuller. The hilt is made of brass and the entire hilt depicts beautiful decorations in the Vendel style. The pommel consists of cloisonne with red enamel. The sword is delivered including a brown leather scabbard with brass decorations. The original method of making Damascus steel from Wootz steel was lost in the modern era. Nowadays, the name Damascus steel is used as a generic term for pattern welded / laminated or melted steel made out of two or more different steel types.
