Product description
This medieval headscarf is based on illustrations from the 13th-century richly illuminated manuscript, the Maciejowski Bible (also known as the Morgan Bible). The manuscript was created at the request of King Louis IX of France. It serves as a snapshot from a distant medieval past, offering great insight into the clothing and armor of the time. Headscarves were worn by married women throughout history, and were a status symbol. It wasn’t until modern times that the wearing of headscarves by women in the West fell out of practice. A perfect accessory for medieval reenactment.
