This buckler by Windlass Steelcrafts is perfect for Historical European Martial Arts. The buckler is a small shield used in sword and shield combinations in close combat during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. It protected poorly against arrows and projectiles, but was perfect for hindering the movements of the enemy and deflicting weapons. This replica is a larger size buckler for almost all battle scenarios. In the center of the buckler is an integrated shield boss of 15.25 cm diameter so you can deflict blows from other weapons. This buckler is forged by hand and an acid bath has given it a unique antique finish. This buckler has a wooden grip so you can hold it well while sword fighting.

Maintenance & care
Prevent rust and corrosion by oiling your armour regularly. Remove rust easily with black sandpaper.
Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.
