Product description
The scimitar is a curved sabre and the weapon originated in the Middle East. Since the Ottoman period, this sword was widespread in the Middle East. The cavalry in particular used the scimitar, this was due to the light weight and the curved design with which one could quickly and easily wound enemies while on horseback. Steppe people such as the Mongols also wore a scimitar on horseback. The famous historical figure Saladin, the sultan who fought the crusaders, fought with a scimitar and is depicted with this weapon in medieval illuminated manuscripts. In medieval Christianity the scimitar had a negative association, therefore negative figures such as bad guys from Bible stories were depicted with a scimitar.
This scimitar is made of stainless steel, which ensures easy maintenance. The grip is made of wood and has a metal fitting. It is delivered including a leather scabbard.

Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.
