Product description
This swastika brooch is modeled after a find from a private collection and represents a unique variation of the typical Roman swastika brooches. This particular type is rare and can be seen as a variation of the Roman horse-head fibula, where the original shape evolved into a more amorphous design. However, swastika brooches were widely used throughout the Roman Empire, spanning from Britain to Syria.
The replica is available in high-quality bronze. The brooch measures 4 x 4 cm and features a sturdy spiral pin construction on the back for secure attachment.
Swastika fibulae have been discovered across various regions of the Roman Empire. The Romans referred to the swastika as "crux gammata" due to the shape of the hooks resembling an inverted Greek gamma. The swastika has been a symbol of the sun and positive forces in many ancient cultures and continues to be a sacred symbol in Hinduism today. There were several types of swastika brooches, including those shaped like a traditional German swastika, as well as others with rounded arms or horse-head designs.
