This Spangenhelm is based on fragments of historical originals. These popular helmets were used from around the 4th to the 11th century. Spangenhelms get their name from the fact that the helmet bowl originally consisted of several parts that were fastened together with spangen. Spangenhelms were used for a long time and are even depicted on the Norman (or Anglo-Saxon) Bayeux Tapestry. This helmet is ideal for Germanic, Viking or later Norman re-enactment. This Spangenhelm has a helmet bowl made from one piece which is considerably safer. The inside of this helmet is equipped with a custom-adjustable textile helmet insert and chin strap.
