Product description
This doublet with a close-fitting cut is made from durable canvas cotton. The doublet, with its fitted cut, appeared from the High Middle Ages and displaced the long and loose tunic. It was combined with trousers or chausses, which were fastened directly to the doublet with laces. A characteristic feature of a doublet is its close fit, a small standing collar, and a closed or buttoned front. Initially, the doublet was worn as a high-necked undergarment. During the Renaissance, the neckline became deeper and the doublet was more richly decorated. Typically, a light shirt or undergarment was worn under the doublet. Images of doublets from the late Middle Ages and Renaissance can be found, for example, in the Codices Palatini germanici 466. This doublet can be historically worn under armor and has aiglets to fasten arm and leg armor.
This doublet has no inner padding, so it is very suitable for medieval reenactment battles in the summer. Ideal for reenactment of the 14th-15th centuries.
