Product description

This doublet with a close fit is made from sturdy canvas cotton. The doublet with its fitted cut appeared in the high Middle Ages and replaced the long and wide tunic. It was paired with trousers or chausses, which were directly attached to the doublet with laces. Typical of a doublet is the close fit, a small standing collar, and a closed or buttoned front. Initially, the doublet was worn as a high-necked undergarment. During the Renaissance, the neckline became deeper, and the doublet was richly decorated. Usually, a light shirt or undergarment was worn underneath. Images of doublets from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance can be found in many places, such as in the Codices Palatini germanici 466. This doublet can be worn historically under armor and has aiglets for fastening arm and leg armor.

This doublet has no inner padding, so it is very suitable for medieval reenactment battles in the summer. Ideal for reenactment of the 14th-15th centuries.
