Bracelets like this were worn by Germanic chieftains since the 4th century AD. Bracelets like this were a symbol of status within the Germanic tribe. These bracelets were originally made of massive gold. A 5th century original has been excavated in the Belgian town of Doornik in the grave of the French king Childeric.
This bracelet measures 7 x 5 cm and is 0,8 cm thick. It is completely hand-beaten, every item has its own pattern. It has an inner diameter of 14 to 17 cm.
