Maintenance of leather goods

Leather is a beautiful material and often used in historical, LARP and fantasy looks. However, leather does need some regular maintenance to prevent it from drying out.

With footwear, always make sure that the leather is cleaned of mud and dried after each wear. It’s also advised to regularly treat it with leather oil or shoe polish to rehydrate the leather. 

Leather belts, bags, pouches and armour also need to be regularly treated with oil, wax or polish to make sure they don’t dry out. Should they get wet or dirty, make sure to clean and dry them, before rehydrating the leather, similar to footwear.
