Ishikawa Goemon (16th century - 10th of August 1594) is a Japanese folklore hero that resembles the English Robin Hood. He steals from the rich and gives to the poor. In modern Japan there are still many myths around Ishikawa Goemon's person.
This folklore is depicted in the grip of the John Lee Goemon Katana. The tsuba shows Goemon and the date of his execution. This beautiful katana has an elaborately decorated and hand-painted grip. The grip is wrapped round with shagreen and rough woven cotton. The tsuba is hand-painted as well.
This katana has a razor sharp blade made of 9260 carbon steel with a 55 HRC hardness.
This katana is 103 cm long with a 74,5 cm blade and a 29 cm grip. It weighs approx. 1150 grams.
