Product description
This pair of hourglass gauntlets is crafted in the style of the mid-14th to early 15th century and would have been worn by the knights and soldiers of the Hundred Years' War between France and Great Britain. The hourglass design offers excellent protection and wrist mobility, which made it popular throughout Europe. The armour of this period was not fully plated like the styles of the 15th century but consisted of plate pieces designed to be worn over a full mail hauberk, providing additional protection for the chest and arms.
The gauntlets have a steel thickness of 1.6 mm, making them suitable for reenactment combat. The leather inner gloves are stitched to the fingertips of the gauntlet, allowing them to be easily removed and/or replaced if desired. Wearing comfort is ensured by integrated, riveted gloves made of soft suede, as well as stitched-on finger pads made of thick leather. Additional leather strips are riveted to the inside of the cuffs to prevent chafing.
At each wrist, a sturdy, riveted leather strap keeps the glove firmly in place, ensuring a secure fit during combat. The strap is pre-punched and equipped with a steel buckle, allowing for individual size adjustment.

Tip: How to adjust the finish of your armour and weaponry
Luxurious (polished)- polish the steel with metal polish or toothpaste. You can even give the item a mirror-like polish. Test on a small surface first!
Handmade (matte)- soak the steel in cola for 40 minutes to 20 hours. Check regularly and treat with black sandpaper.
Antique (patinated) leave the steel to rust for some time in a damp environment, preferably outside. Remove the red layer of rust, to reveal the corroded top layer.
