Description

This Germanic fibula is a replica of a 6th-7th century original excavated in Kent, England. Fibulae like this were worn by the Germanic tribes all over Europe, but were especially popular around the Rhine area. The original is now part of the collection of the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford. Fibulae like these were worn in pairs by Germanic people such as Merovingian and Anglo-Saxon women.
