Product description

Alemannic decorative discs with openwork motifs were widely used during the early Middle Ages, from 500 to 700 AD, and were a key element of women's attire in Alemannic culture. These ornamental pieces were an important part of the traditional dress.

This swastika pendant is crafted from cast zinc alloy. The pendant has a diameter of 4.5 cm.

The snake has long held significance in Germanic mythology and the performing arts, dating back to the Bronze Age. It was linked to ancient fertility rites, symbolizing the cycle of life and death, as it represented the return of life in spring and its death in winter. The serpent also played a special role in death cults, as seen in figures like Nidhöggr on the World Tree and the Midgard Serpent. Its presence is found in many mythologies worldwide, from Germanic and Indo-European traditions to Siberian shamanism.
