Product description
This belt end is made in the Viking Jellinge style (890-990). Belt ends were used for protection and decoration. The belt end is 4,0 x 2,0 cm large and is suitable for belts of 2,0 cm wide. It is silver coloured.
The decoration of the belt end shows two ribbon-animals with striped bodies and long stylized beaks. The execution of this motive is typical for the Jellinge style which occurred from 890 to approx. 990. The depiction of the animal in profile distinct the Jellinge style from the preceding Borre style, where the animals are shown en face.
