Product description

This brigandine is a replica of an original exhibited in the Royal Armouries, Leeds. A Brigandine was the most common form of protection among both commoners and the nobility. On the 15th-century battlefield, you'll find all different styles of brigandine, ranging from the most ordinary brigandine worn by archers to the most expensive and luxurious ones worn by the highest nobility! A versatile form of protection offering excellent mobility, a historical brigandine is characterized by clever construction. It was made of hundreds of small plates under a sturdy canvas or leather covering, giving it its iconic appearance with all rows of plates elegantly visible on the outside. Not only did it have an extremely distinctive appearance, but it was also extremely comfortable, precisely because of the excellent mobility it offered. All these parameters contributed to the advantage of being able to be worn for long periods, something all reenactors have respected and enjoyed during hours on battlefields and long events. A brigandine also offered excellent protection, striking a perfect balance between almost no hindrance in movement and retaining significant protection. It was used by knights and men-at-arms, in conjunction with full plate armor for limbs and the rest of the body. This brigandine consists of a layer of supple suede leather, on 1.2 mm thick steel plates (149 for S/M, 147 plates for L/XL). You can use the leather straps to adjust the size of the brigandine.

Maintenance & care
Just as with weaponry, you can care for your shoes and leatherware by applying a little Ballistol after cleaning. This prevents the leather from drying out.

When packaging this item, we exclusively use 100% recycled plastic and recycled paper/cardboard from FSC certified forests. We reuse a large part of the material directly without the intervention of a recycling process.
Recycle the material by separating your waste:
1. Cardboard: separate or reuse your paper.
2. Plastic cushions, clothing bags and plastic tape: separate or reuse your plastic. If possible, pierce the cushions with a volume reduction needle.
3. Paper packaging for jewelry and small items: these have a plastic inner layer. Remove these, then separate your paper and plastic.
